Before the Sun Settles

“Before the Sun Settles (Göçer Zaman)” is a 2025 short film produced by ArtEA Productions with the support of the Republic of Türkiye – Ministry of Culture and Tourism (Alevi–Bektashi Culture and Cemevi Presidency).

The film follows Reha, a woman who embarks on an inner journey beyond time and space. As she confronts seven figures born from her own mind, she is drawn into an irreversible migration toward both her past and her own essence. In this flow between memory and embodiment, the ancestral Turkmen migration from Khorasan to Anatolia becomes intertwined with a woman’s cyclical passage from herself to herself.

Through movement, symbolism, and a poetic visual language, Before the Sun Settles explores migration not as departure but as a return, a reconciliation with one’s scattered selves. Capturing the delicate oscillation between fragmentation and unity, the film offers a contemplative portrait of resilience, healing, and the timeless journey of coming home to oneself.
